An alias is an way of mapping  a name to an actual email address. Now we will see the steps to create email aliases in plesk.

1. Click on “Mail” option.
2. Locate the pop account for which you would like to create an alias.

3. Select “Add New Mail Alias”

4. Enter the name of the new alias in the “Mail alias name” option.
5. Select “OK” which is present in the right bottom of the page.
6. You have successfully created an email alias.

7. You can obviously return here to create another email alias. Or you can also edit the existing one.
8. You can sent an email message to this name.

9. Or you can add this person to your address book.
10. Delete the alias altogether with the “ Remove Selected” option.
11. You have to select the option “ Mail”, like the below image.

12. Finally, to display all aliases, simply click to expand your list. Similarly, you can click to hide them.

1. The first step would be to login to your Plesk admin area.

2. Select “Custom Buttons” >> “Add New Button” option.

3. Create a label for the new button. The following page is the text which will appear under the button.

4. Enter the button name in “Button label” option.

5. You can choose to have the link displayed either on the admin page or in the navigation pane.

6. ‘Priority setting’ decides the order in which custom buttons are displayed.

7. With “ Background image” You can use your own button image. If you don’t select anything, the default button image will be used.

8. In “URL” option, you have to enter the URL to which you wish to direct the user after selecting the button.

9. Using the checkboxes, specify whether to include the data, like domain id, name of the organization, customer’s details to be transferred with the URL. These data can be required for processing by external web applications.

10. Enter help tip in “context help tip contents ”. These tips will be shown when users hover the Cursors over the button.

11. If you wish the destination URL to be opened in the control panel’s right frame then choose the open URL inside the control panel frame checkbox. Leave it unchecked if you don’t want it.

12. If you want it to be visible to all then select it other wise not.

13. Select “OK” button which is present in the right bottom of this page.

14. Now you are done with the process. You have successfully created custom button which will be visible at the Domain administration page of every domain.

With the Crontab Manager, you can automatically run scheduled tasks on the server, and if selected, receive automatic email showing the results. So, if you manage crontab in Plesk then you have to follow the following steps.

1. At first you have to login to your Plesk admin area.
2. Click on “Scheduler” option.
3. Select the name of the user for whom you wish to manage crontab.
4. You may choose to have crontab massages sent to you by email. If you wish to change the email address then click on “Set” option to make the modification effectively. “Set ” option is present in the right bottom of the page.

5. If there is no cronjob task set for this user  like the following page then then you can create one now.

6. Select “Add New Task”.
7. Enter a description of the new cron job.

8. Specify that who will receive scheduler notification.
9. Enter the path of the executable file.
10. In the next page you have to set the task priority.

11. Enter the specific parameters to to set the frequency of the task.
12. Select “OK” option.

13. As you can see the above image that, the task has been successfully setup.
14. If can create another new cron job with “Add New Task” option again.

1. Log-in to plesk admin area.
2. Select “Back up ” option. You can take backup locally or remotely. For convenience, you can enter your FTP details and store them for further sessions.
3. Select “FTP Account Properties”.

4. Enter your FTP details and then select “OK” in the following page.

5. Click on “Create Backup ”
6. You have to enter all details in the following page

7. You can specify if you wish to be notified by email when the backup is complete. And then click on  “Back up” option which is present in the left bottom.

8. You can see one message “ Warning: The domain will be unavailable during backup/ restore” and you have to select “OK”.
9. Since the domain was temporarily unavailable, it logged you out of your control panel.

10. Select Back up>> Scheduled Backup settings
11. Select the desired frequency>> select the location of the backup files.
12. Enter the maximum number of backup files you wish to store.
13. Prepare your backup files with whatever you like.
14. Select “OK” button which is present in the right bottom corner in this page.
15. Remember to enable the schedule. Keep in mind that scheduled backup will only work remotely. Local backup must be done manually.
16. Select “Backup files repository”. When restoring files to your site, you can upload from your local computer. Or you can restore from your remote FTP repository.

17. Now you are able to backup and restore your site files in plesk.

What is Plesk?

It is a web server administration control panel. Highly recommended for windows web hosting to cope up the website management. It is well similar to cPanel, Ensim, and others. For an instance, you can manage windows server administration with the help of Plesk such set up new websites, email accounts, and DNS entries via a web based interface. As similar to cPanel, Plesk also easy to use so there is matter if you don’t have administration skills.

How to backup and restore files in Plesk 8

1. Log in to Plesk 8 >> (Now we assume already logged into Plesk Panel)

Now let’s learn how to back up and restore files.

2. Click on the Backup Icon >> You will see the main backup page where you can create immediate backups, restore files, or schedule backups to occur at a last time.

Let’s learn how to schedule backups.

3. Click on scheduled backup icon >> Now will see the main page of scheduled backup >>

4. Task >> Back Time >> Enter the time of day you want the backup to go on >>

5. Backup period >> Choose how often (frequently or period the backup is to go on) >> Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.

6. Number of backup files record in repository >> Ex. 1000

7. Add prefix to backup file names >> Ex. backup

8. Send notification on errors if any happen during backup to email >> Enter an email address to for backup notifications.

9. Click on OK button when finished >> Still you are not quite finished  >> Go back into scheduled backup.

10. You must enable the scheduled backup by clicking on Enable button >> That’s it. Backups will be scheduled to happen at given details.

Let’s return to the backup manager.

11. To make an immediate backup of your account click on Backup Now button >> Now you will see the backup information page where you get the details of >> Backup file name >> Comments

12. Click on Backup Now button >> You will see the progress of domain backup >> When the backup is finished, click on OK button >>  The backup of your account will be listed there.

13. To download the backup on your personal computer >> Scroll Right  >> Click on the download icon >> Save the file >> Backup will be saved on you computer.

14. To restore a previously made backup, simply click on the appropriate backup >> If the backup you want to restore is located on your computer >> Click on Add new file icon to upload it first

15. To return the Plesk homepage >> Click on Home icon (Left side below the General option)
